Modern Crochet

This book is incredible!!! I was looking for a creative hobby, away from screens, that I can pick up and set down easily with toddlers running around. In the past I've tried to pick up crocheting but have always felt SO overwhelmed. This book, along with all the additional online resources Debrosse has created, made it not only simple to understand but so much fun! I've already successfully completed a beautiful throw blanket and I cannot wait to start my next project!

Simple, elegant, modern patterns and stitch directions that are easy to follow! Had a bolster that sorely needed recovering and the new cover, made according to the Vache bolster pillow directions, came out great!

I took off 1 star because I purchased this as a gift but it is obvious used. Possibly a return to Amazon by someone. I decided just to keep it for myself. The inside looks good.

I've only been crocheting for a few months and bought this book after I had learned most of the basics (I'd still say I'm a beginner). This book is beautiful and all of the patterns are indeed modern. The author, Teresa, says she wants this to be a makers go to book when they need to look something up, a true resource, and it absolutely has become just that for me. The patterns are beautiful and easy to follow and I love the modern aesthetic of the entire book. I'm a sucker for details and the ruler on the inside front cover of the book is what really put it over the top for me. I know I'll be using this book for years to come 🙂

It is a really detailed book to start learning crochet. It has a couple of different things to make and explain everything, from a yarn to how to how to make a pillow.

I do not normally write reviews I just had to on this book! It is so well written and her projects are amazing! I have already made a few of the projects they work up really quickly. I love that she has a website to help with any questions if you have any.

I love love love this. It was definitely worth the wait. She made sure to include everything a crocheter may need, whether a beginner or intermediate maker. My favorite parts being the ruler and bookmark. I can’t wait to make everything and that’s my goal for 2020: make at least one of every pattern included.

First off, I love love love this book. Let's not miss out how much effort, sweat, headaches etc put on by the designer, T to create such beautifully crafted pattern book. I pre ordered this book knowing very well all the patterns are simple stitches and for beginners. I still purchased it because I love her style and creations. All I can say is well done, T.

I’ve Waited all day for this book!! I have most of her patterns and I love the new ones that are in the book! I would consider myself as a ‘Eager Beginner’ and she does not disappoint with her lessons and pictures. The book and pictures and patterns are Beautiful!!

Well written and the modern patterns are so good. I cannot stress enough how succinctly written this book is. Beginner friendly but also fun for a more experienced crocheter.

Had to return this book! The info and patterns are fabulous BUT, I had to use a magnifying glass to see the print.I was so disappointed that I couldn't keep this book.My eyesight is good but not great!

It is a beautiful, minimal crochet book that I purchased a year ago now. That was when I picked up crocheting for the first time. I enjoyed making the blanket patterns the most. I love the texture forward, monochrome designs.The headband was my first make, and it looked like a bandage on me haha, so that shape didn’t work out for me. I also made the super-sized scarf which used a beautiful (I believe herringbone) stitch, but the size of it ended up being impractical for me.To each their own though! Crocheting is such a subjective experience.Overall, I find the book inspirational and a good example of what modern and minimal crochet looks like.

Let's cut to the chase right off the bat: This is the book to buy if you've been wanting to learn to crochet and just can't seem to figure it out. It breaks down each stitch into really understandable step by steps and includes pictures of each of those steps. I basically use it as a reference material.Now that you know that this is THE book for learning to crochet, it is also filled with a variety of lovely patterns that are easy to follow (especially with the great reference section on stitches). For things like blankets, DeBrosse provides a variety of finishing sizes so you're not stuck with whatever size the creator chose.This is the only book I have recommended to multiple people for crochet. If you haven't bought it, do it for the reference section in the back on how to complete stitches. That alone is worth the cost.

For crochet lovers like me, this book is a must have! This book contains several crochet patterns easy to follow and also gives you great ideas for easy projects you can make with any yearn. I LOVE this book! Thank you so much.

When I saw the title of this book and the pillow on the cover, I had to buy it. I am so glad I did! Finally something I can crochet without it looking like it belongs in Grandma's house. I am not a talented crocheter and am newly back to crocheting. The first project I made was the coasters - after finding the right yarn, they look great. Next up was the pillow on the front cover. I worried that it would be too difficult, but it turned out great! The videos on the website are a great help as are the detailed photos in the book. I recommend this book for beginning crocheters as well as advanced.

I made a basket that was in the book but not as much modern crochet that I cared for.

Love the patterns. You get a little bit of everything from blankets, hats, and home items. If you aren't a serious crocheter and also a minimalist you will love this well curated book.

Beautiful modern minimalism. The book itself is beautiful and elegant. The patterns are simple and lovely.. I have been looking for this for a long time. She has brought together crochet and art.

I love love love this book- it’s comprehensive and the projects are divine! I made the bobble stitch wall hanging as my first project. The instructions were easy to follow and I love that she shares what yarn and brand she used for each project. Can’t wait to tackle more!
