This book is so cute!!! I purchased it for a friend who is having a baby this spring. She loved it! The pictures are so fun and the quality is great!
My toddler found my crochet books by Lauren Espy and would spend time flipping through the pages and pointing at fruits and vegetables with me. I thought he would love First Words with Cute Crochet Friends, but he wasn't as interested in it as her actual crochet books. I, personally, love the simplicity of First Words - the layout isn't overwhelming, colors aren't bright and gaudy, the crochet projects are beautifully constructed, and the design of the entire book is just clean.Though my toddler didn't find this book as entertaining as I thought he would, I still highly recommend it -- especially, as a baby shower gift for a boy or girl.
If you can crochet I greatly recommend getting one of Lauren’s Animal Amigurumi Adventure books as well. You can make an animal from one of those books to match these animals and gift them together! The photos of her critters were done very well and it’s a nice sturdy book for little ones.
Love this Book. Next I'm buying the pattern book that goes with this, so I can make all the crochet items in this book so I can share with grand babies when I read the book to them.

This book is so cute! My little niece (15 months) loves looking at the colorful pictures and pointing to things. It’s nice that the book is so sturdy and high quality, too!
I really love this author’s crochet patterns and own all of her crochet books and have purchased patterns from her web site. The only problem is that my toddler loves looking at her pattern books so it’s difficult for me to make anything from her books because he thinks the pattern books are his. So enter this book - I thought maybe if I gave him this book he would let me use the pattern books. But nope - he now just requests me to make crocheted items from this book (“mommy make little ghost!”). So, it did not serve the purpose I hoped, but it is super cute and has a lot of really cute pictures. I would recommend this book to other people looking for a cute board book that can help babies and toddlers learn new words.

I've been crocheting for 11 years, and had to get this book once I saw it. My 1 & 3 year old love it so much. They recognize that the things in the book are crochet just like mommy makes. How fun for a maker! I even bought it for a fellow first time mom who crochets.
